2023 has been a bit of a bucket list year for me, with a huge 2 month USA/Canada road trip and a horse ride of a lifetime riding the High Country of Victoria past multiple locations for the film The Man From Snowy River including the amazing Craigs Hut. Art wise I have been a bit quieter as I renovated a house in Tasmania. However, I have been working on a new set of Sitting Girl bronzes which will be available in the early part of 2024, painted several watercolours including magpies and Arctic Terns.. plus... for those who are reading this, a sneaky insight that I am currently developing a entirely new range of paintings in watercolour and acrylic which I am actually reluctant to show just yet as I want to launch them all at once.... Something completely new which I am really excited about, so stay tuned for the release of these hopefully in mid 2024....
Anyway, just a short blog for now, here are some images, and I hope this finds you well and happy and that you have a wonderful new year with beauty and inspiration! xxx

Hey there! Just a quick post, October 2023 already! I'm posting this from Tasmania where I am looking out a large window out across to a huge mountain which still has snow in the mornings.. Its been a busy but hectic year so far, the main highlight has been spending 2 months in the USA and Canada exploring both some major cities and travelling more than 10,000km on land to immerse myself in the outstanding natural world there, both so familiar from a lifetime of TV and movies, and so alien, coming from an Australian perspective. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and let you know my work is still available at Eagles Nest Gallery in Aireys Inlet in Victoria, however I am unable to work to any custom orders at this time, thanks for understanding. Here are some pics from my travels, more on the Instagram and Facebook pages if you are curious :) Stay Happy!! xxx Its currently February 2022, and what a busy year 2021 was!! I spent most of the year creating orders as usual and works for my first ever Solo Exhibition. "Away with the Birds" was held at Eagles Nest Gallery in Aireys Inlet, Victoria along the Great Ocean Road. The artworks were all inspired by my work with the raptors at Full Flight Birds of Prey centre located at Miners Rest in Victoria Australia. Over the past 8 years I have participated in the displays and live bird flight shows at various festivals in NSW, and also assisted at several other locations in jobs like at Parliament House in Canberra. The exhibition showcased my Jewellery, Paintings and Sculptures, with all designs featuring birds. We were fortunate to have the opening at Eagles Nest Gallery in Aireys Inlet during a time where facemasks were not required, and I loved seeing so many friends and family come and celebrate with me. The exhibition ran from early December until late January and I was delighted to find it was so successful! If you came to see the exhibition or indeed made a purchase, thank you!! from the bottom of my heart! xxx Special Mentions....Thank you to the wonderful Graeme Coles of Full Flight Birds of Prey who very kindly let me have as my special guest "Rosie" the Australian Peregrine Falcon, thank you Graeme and also to Sidonie who brought Rosie to the opening and hung out with us all afternoon xxx A very special thank you to my wonderful friend and now co-worker Cinnamon Stephens, for your encouragement and prompting to get me to commit to the exhibition in the first place! It was a very big bucket list tick for me and it wouldn't have happened without your support. Big thanks also to the owner of Eagles Nest Gallery Bruno for his constant encouragement and allowing me the space to show my work!!
Special mention also to my lovely sister Suzi for all of the amazing photographs from the opening event, thank you so much for your creative views, hard work and generous gift!! The Fox Fine Art Website is Launched! Welcome everyone! Of course a website is a constantly changing creature, particularly when I will be listing one of a kind pieces... but the basic website is done and I am really happy with the general look of it all. Trying to blend 3 mediums together is a bit of a challenge so I hope it all makes sense to you. This month has been very busy, for the Jewellery side of things I have been making pendants and rings, teaching a new student, and exploring some exciting new tools. I finally was able to attend the Glass Cold Working workshop and finished my fox sculpture in lost wax glass. Prints are now available from this website, how exciting!!! I hope to be painting a lot next month to add to the collection. And finally, this past week I have been away in Sydney attending the Blacktown medieval festival with Full Flight Birds of Prey ( based in Ballarat Vic) which was, as always, a lot of fun! Its not every day you get to ride a camel in medieval re-enactment clothing while holding a wedge tailed eagle aloft in one hand in the middle of a Chinese bridge. If its not an eclectic life are you even living??? lol A few bits of news.... and I'm still writing this when no-one can read it, as the website has still not been launched! lol Anyway, a few new updates which are quite big for me... I have been welcomed into the wonderful Eagles Nest Art Gallery located in Aireys Inlet along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. My new home away from home, you will find me there most Sundays which is lovely as I get to chat about art all day! See pic above, at the front entrance to the gallery :) The next news is the website which is days away from being ready to launch! Since you, dear reader, will be seeing this after the launch I'd love it if you can leave a comment to let me know how the website looks and functions, its always great to have some feedback! :) And on the Painting front.... new paintings have been put on hold while I work on my house for a bit, but I do have 5 paintings all planned out and hopefully can start on them soon. However some paintings have been professionally scanned and are now available as Limited Edition Prints, and looking amazing on the highest quality paper and printers I can find. They are currently available at Eagles Nest Gallery, here on the website, and will soon be available onsite at Full Flight Birds of Prey centre at Miners Rest ( near Ballarat) in Victoria. Sculpture News - the Peregrina 'was' finished but then I realised I need to make her stand on a bronze base so she will need to be tweaked a little before I can send her to the foundry for moulding and casting... Fire Horse is completed, cast, and currently edition 1/10 is available along with the Water Horse at Eagles Nest Gallery right now :) And Air Horse is finished!!! I'm really excited to get this to the foundry very soon for moulding and casting, just need an extra day somewhere! Earth is coming along and should be not far off getting finished, see above regarding extra days needed somewhere.... hmmm. And last but definitely not least, Jewellery news...
I have my selected jewellery available at Eagles Nest Gallery, and struggling to keep the shelf full! which is a good problem to have :) I have been busy sketching heaps of new designs including an entire new range called Cartography..., I've bought in a dragon trove of gemstones, and my new 'baby' is due to arrive next week, a beautiful PepeTools Rolling Mill, which will bring a whole new dimension to my pieces!! I can't wait! till then, stay arty! xxxx M New year, new me! I know.. I know.... thats cliche! but for me its kind of true, as 2021 starts off with my reclaiming my maiden name! I'm very excited to be a Fox again, and I welcome all my past customers and followers along with any new followers to this new website, its great to have you here.
And of course, its exciting to create a website which combines all my artistic passions in the one place, jewellery, sculpture and paintings. I have been very busy in 2020 working on lots of new ideas and designs which will unfold in 2021. It takes time to create, especially things which have multiple steps in the process like cast bronze and glass. So many ideas run through my head its a struggle to keep up with the actual creation of them, but give me a little time and I hope to show you new creations as I can. Part of the painting process in 2020 has been to source the absolute best in quality reproduction printing of my finished pieces, simple but perfect framing of my originals, and to refrain myself from jumping all over the place with ideas but to keep a cohesiveness to my style, hopefully I can keep my busy brain focused. :) I have lots of new jewellery designs in my head as well, and look forward to showing my lovely customers as the year progresses. As my long time followers will see I have simplified my range to exclusively keeping to my original designs, and introducing my one of a kind series where you can have the design custom enhanced with your own horses tail or mane hair. I will list the One of a Kind designs as they become available and once they are sold thats it. This way you are certain to have a completely unique and special design to yourself. Sculpture is developing well, with several bronzes in progress including the final two element horses to match the Water Horse and the Fire Horse. Of course, its the Earth and Air horses which are coming, and I'm really looking forward to having all 4 completed and together, that will be a fun photo shoot indeed! Glass casting is a new technique I am learning so I'm having to work around covid delays and restrictions adding to the timeframe. My very first piece is a fox, still not quite finished but watch this space :) As they say, everything changes except change itself, and as I move forward into a new life I am grateful to have you along with me, onwards and upwards!! xxM |
